Bias tapes are designed to form around curved shapes like wing tip bows and tail feathers without heat shrinking or notching. When pulled around curves, they shrink about 1/3 their normal width.
Prices are adjusted to account for approximately 5% tape loss due to necessary sewn splices in bias tape and inevitable minor defects.
